Prepositions of time

AT
Uses:
- Times of day: At 5.00 pm, At midnight...
- These expresions: At night, at present, at the same time, at Easter, at the moment, at Christmas...


ON
Uses: 
- Dates or days: On Friday, on 12 march 2015, on my birthday...

IN
Uses:
- Longer periods (year, month, season): In winter, in 1968, in the past, in october...
- Parts of the day: In the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening.
- How long it takes to do something: I learnt to drive in 3 lessons.
- As a time in the future: In a few minutes.

AT THE END: When the action ends
IN THE END: Means "FINALLY"

ON TIME: Punctual
IN TIME: Soon enough

DURING
Uses:
- Means "IN" .
- Within a particular period: Owls sleep during the day,
- When something happens at the same time: My wallet was stolen during the concert.
- When something takes place.

FOR
Uses:
- How long something continues: I will work here for the rest of my life.

THROUGHOUT
Uses:
- Emphasise that something continues the whole time: Throughout the ages men have made war against others.

UNTIL
Uses:
- Something continues up to a particular time: The party lasted until midnight.

BY
Uses:
- Something will happen before / at that time: By july i will have finished my studies.
