Comparatives & Superlatives

COMPARATIVES

* To say that something is "LESS" than other thing.

_____ LESS + adjective + THAN _____

"A T-shirt is less expensive than a motorbike"

* To express that one thing is equal to other or not:

_____ AS + adjective +AS _____

_____ NOT AS + adjective + AS _____

"She is as smart as Erik"     "A house is not as cheap as a candy"


* To compare TWO things.
     - If the adjective is SHORT (2 syllables) : (adjective + ER) + THAN
     - If the adjective is LONG (+2 syllables) : MORE + adjective + THAN

"A house is bigger than a car"     "John is more intelligent than Kevin"


SUPERLATIVES

* To say that something is "less" than a group.

_____ THE LEAST + adjective.

"This hair band is the least expensive product in this shop"


*To say that one is over a group.
     - If the adjective is SHORT (2 syllables) : THE (adjective + EST)
     - If the adjective is LONG (+2 syllables) : THE MOST + adjective

"Saturn is the biggest planet"     "Life is the most valuable thing"
