FORM:
- AFFIRMATIVE: Be (in past) + Verb -ing
I was playing basketball.
- NEGATIVE: Be not (in past) + Verb -ing I wasn't playing football.
- QUESTION: Be (in past) + Subject + Verb -ing + Complements? Were you playing tennis?
TO BE is the auxiliary verb.
